SIMPLE MAIL TRANSFER PROTOCOL

Most of us know about the TCP/IP protocols that are used to access the internet. The simple mail transfer protocol( SMTP ) as the name suggests is used for the simple mail transfer.

The e-mail when sent from one computer to another over the internet or any other network makes use of the SMTP. The SMTP basically has two agents the user agent and the mail transfer agent.

The user agents takes care of creating the message and putting it within an envelope and the mail transfer agent sends the mail across the network.
